In the future, Pigment Hunter will bring the art of pigment hunting, paint making, and creating art to places and communities outside of the Pigment Hunter studio. The mobile Loculi Lab will travel to visit other landscapes in order to work with communities of artists to help discover local sources of color and to create collaborative murals with pigments from each place.

Pigment Hunter will also help to educate artists on how to reduce our collective ecological footprint in the creation of art while bringing an awareness to the potential sources of natural color that exist outside the walls of our art studios. The mobile STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, ART, math) lab will also display art created with natural materials as it travels from place to place showcasing the art of colors from the Earth in the form of minerals and plants. The mobile lab hopes to connect with other artists, galleries, cultural centers, and educational institutions who are interested in working with natural materials or want to embrace this important work through future art exhibitions.
The lab will contain equipment for researching, documenting, and processing natural materials into sources of color as it travels through various watersheds, cities, communities, and artist studios. Pigments will be on display to show the range of colors from different places along with a series of maps documenting their origins and elemental compositions. Mapping and GIS technology will be used to help identify the unique qualities at a site by understanding the evolution of its geological formations and ecological elements that endemic to each place.

THE ART OF SCIENCE
The mobile Pigment Lab & Artelier will focus on teaching other communities about the importance of local materials in the creation of art, place, and culture.
The mobile lab will create opportunities for an exploration into the diverse realms of science and the arts through an analysis of color and the elemental compositions of various materials whether they are inorganic or organic. The lab will contain some specialized equipment such as a drone with camera and software for capturing 3d forms such as topography while out in the field and to use in schools to develop STREAM programming. The imagery can be used to create 3d models on the computer and for creating 3d carved or printed forms with a cnc router or 3d printer.
The mobile lab will provide access to a CNC router & laser cutter for creating public art and educational opportunities at public schools. The cnc router will be capable of cutting up to 2'x2' works of art that can become part of a larger work of art.

Mobile art lab with three roll mill and pigment storage along with other pigment processing and paint making equipment. The lab will also facilitate printing with silkscreens, etching press, and tortilla presses will allow enable the production of art prints. 3d art can be created with the cnc router, laser cutter, and 3d printer.
Etching press & tortilla press for creating prints
An etching press will enable the production of art prints that are 2'x2' or smaller in size. The modular size of 2'x2' can be used to create larger compositions for public art installations.
